Potowomut Golf Club first opened for play in 1927. Walter Johnson (former 17 year Donald Ross associate) added the back 9 in 1928 and reworked the front nine.

The course has fast greens and narrow fairways. Water hazards come into play on five holes.  Sand bunkers, grass bunkers, and tree-lined fairways add to the difficulty of this course.
